The Park Law Enforcement Association (PLEA) is very pleased to announce that the Board of Directors, at a recent mid-year Board meeting, unanimously voted to approve the Park Ranger Institute as an Associate Member. To our mutual benefit both groups have come together in an agreement to support our common goals and objectives.
Starting in 2009 PLEA will select one of its members each year to receive a paid tuition scholarship to attend the Park Ranger Institute. A scholarship application will soon be added to our website. Learn more about the Park Ranger Institute by visiting them at http://www.parkrangerinstitute.com
John Byrd, Sr., Executive Director of the Park Ranger Institute and Current President of PLEA will continue to be a representative of the Park Range Institute. Captain Carl Nielsen, Executive Director of PLEA will reciprocate by serving as a board member with the Park Ranger Institute.
“Many of our member agencies have historically supported the Park Ranger Institute by sending their Rangers and Park Officers to their renowned annual training program held at the campus of the North Carolina Justice Academy in Salemburg, NC. This agreement is a logical move to enhance training opportunities in support of sworn and non-sworn members of our profession”, said Captain Carl Nielsen, Executive Director of PLEA.
